Poshmark - Encouraging Shoppers to think Secondhand this Christmas

This post contains affilliate links.

Any time a platform you are on is spending time promoting an event, take notice. They are spending money to promote something that will pull people to your product at no additional cost to you.

Poshmark is promoting an event called #secondhandsunday on November 23, 2022. They are encouraging shoppers to buy at least one gift second hand this year.

This is a great opportunity to cash in on free traffic. In order to take advantage though, it is essential that your closet is prepped and ready. Get your game plan started now.

Keep up with the trend report that Poshmark provides every month. While you are out sourcing look for items that are both trending and perfect for gift giving.

Consider having some items put away just for this event. You want your closet to come up in as many searches as possible to get new customers and hopefully followers that will buy from you again.

When photographing your items take the time to stage them as Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers and under the tree items. Show, don't tell your customers how great your item will be as a gift.

Research your keywords. Again, we want to show up in every search we can. Make sure the keywords are drilled down so that your item will be a perfect match.

Go on Pinterest and download cheat sheets on sleeves, collars, pant legs. The more specific your description can be, the better.

Have special items drop on the 23rd. Share the items beforehand to build anticipation for the day.

Offer the largest discounts you can and take advantage of special shipping rates ( Sundays are usually Closet Clear Out) so hopefully Poshmark will be paying the difference in shipping.

Offer a special deal or free gift only to customers who purchase on the 23rd. Make sure it is something that will make a great gift. Think earrings, necklaces, gloves, toques, bracelets.

Send a thank you card with the purchase but be sure it is a Christmas card that can be used with the gift. I like to make handmade Christmas cards and than write my thank you on a notepaper that sits inside the card, but is not attached.

In your thank you card suggest they sign up for your newsletter so they will be able to have first shot at VIP sales and special offers.

Give them a reason to come back and buy from you again. A buy one, get one 50% off coupon might entice them to grab a couple more last minute items.

Okay, that's it for my ideas. Let me know how you do during #secondhandsunday. Don't forget to visit my closet @NewMrsRobertson.
